Jay's Miniature Steam Engines

Other Makes

I own too many makes to list them all on separate pages so here they are starting with Mobiles

Mobiles

The Markie range is built by an engineer who leave in the South of England oddly enough not far from me.
This one is the 1" roller version and has to be my favourite engine as well as my biggest, as you can see I have also made a living van to scale to compliment it.

I have named her "Demi Paris after my daughter.

D R Mercer Type 2, a really cracking bit of kit

Another D R Mercer but this one is a Type 2, it's never been fired up

Mastrand Roller circa 1950, This was said to become the inspiration of the Mamod SR1, examples like these are becoming hard to get hold of.
This gets used on a regular basis and runs fine

Made from a design by Kenneth Wells Circa 1970's and still goes well today

Another Kenneth Wells but with a canopy and a nice runner too Circa 1970's

Stationarys

This could well be one of the smallest stationary live steam engines that you are likely to see, I don't know of it's origin but suffice to say it is well made and runs very well indeed.

MF Twin
The MF Twin is a replica of a model that was manufactured before the Second World War.
The model briefly appeared during the latter part of 1939 and had disappeared by the time the factory had stopped production sometime in 1940.
The engine in question was a twin horizontally opposed cylinder overtype model. This particular engine had a production run thought to be less than 100,
but in reality was probably limited to just a few dozen units. Of these just a handful are known to have survived.
To give you some idea of how rare these engines have become: the grandson of the original manufacturer had not seen one of these engines until the mid 1990's, over fifty years since they were produced.
I am lucky enough to be the proud owner of model number 35 of the 100 limited edition being built today my a good friend of mine Ian from MF Steam.
If you would like to know more about these engines and how to obtain one of the remainder limited edition then please visit http://www.mfsteam.com/

Kleinemeier Modellbau

These a really great little engines made from by a friend of mine who runs a little cottage industry in Germany, to find out more about these makes click on KM logo above

Doll 407/1 circa 1927

Started by Peter Doll and and Isodor Sondhelm in 1898. Doll had a wide variety of both steam engines and steam toys, and were widely distributed to the US and UK

Fleischmann 122/2 Circa 1950's

Gama Circa 1992, I don't know a great deal about these engines except that they were made in Czechoslovia, note the similarity to Wilesco's.

D12 electric version

This is a homemade engine that I built from what was a school project, the idea was that you use a balloon pump to make it run.
I have converted it to run on live steam as you can see in the video below
